Effective October 1, 2017, certain specialty medications that were previously covered under the medical benefit channel administered by Highmark Blue Cross Blue Shield (BCBS) will instead be covered through the pharmacy benefit channel and administered by Express Scripts’ specialty pharmacy, Accredo, which is included in GuideStone’s prescription drug benefit plan.  

Individuals with a prescription affected by this change received a letter from Accredo explaining how to transfer their prescription from Highmark to Accredo.

Accredo provides an enhanced level of care, including safety programs to avoid potentially harmful drug interactions, individualized support from a dedicated team of registered nurses and pharmacists, 24/7 toll-free access to pharmacist counseling, scheduled delivery to your home or doctor’s office at no additional charge and refill reminders.

Please review this list to see if your medication will be affected by the change. Future prescriptions for these drugs may require preapproval prior to being filled.
